Rix Engineering VW type high tensile billet steel front king pin spindle locking nuts. These nuts replace the castellated style nuts which rely on the fitting of a split pin to lock them in place. They feature an M18 x 1.5 metric thread, often used on Mk1 and Mk2 RS Escorts as a useful upgrade. They allow for a more infinite tightening capability and more importantly don't rely on a hole needing to be drilled through the spindle, making it stronger and eliminating a potential weak point.
